On July 14,1863, my Great-Grandfather James Griffin from Burke County, North Carolina was captured during the battle of Falling Waters, Maryland. He swore allegiance to the Union in August, 1864 and fought with Company H, 3rd Regiment Maryland Cavalry for the duration of the war.
