Polk,president.Attended Georgetown University, graduated West Point 1852,diploma given by Robert E.Lee...Aide-de-Camp to Bvt.Gen.Twiggs on Sioux Expedition,with Gen.Harney at Raid at Blue Water 1855.Joined in the Rebellion, 1861, Was present at Belmont and wounded,lost leg, and captured at Shiloh, April 7th,1862.Paroled Nov.1862,promoted to Colonel by Jefferson Davis,joined Gen.Leonidas Polk as staff officer,Chief of Artillery.Present at engagements with Army of Tenn,Stones River,Shelbyville and Chickamauga.Assigned to be commandant of Aberdeen,Ms.Northern Mississippi district. Present at Okolona,Brices Crossroads,Harrisburg (Tupelo) and campaigns in North Miss. and Alabama. Served under Gen. Stephen D. Lee and Gen.Nathan Bedford Forrest until wars end.Treasurer of State of Tenn., 1882.
