Enlisted just prior and participated at Gettysburg till the end of the war. His grandfather also Elisha Geer from Lake George NY fought and was killed in the war of 1812, 23rd NY Militia at the Battle of Plattsburgh, and his father Roger Geer was in the Connecticut Militia 23 months in the RevWar. Elisha is a Jamestown and Mayflower Decsendant.

William Hurley served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He served in the 61st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company D, as a Private. He enlisted October 22, 1862 and was discharged on July 5, 1865. Upon discharge he was listed with the disability: Wounded right knee. His discharge address was Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Served witht the 61st Pennsylvania Volunteers almost his entire enlistment. received the Metal of Honor at the Battle of Fishers Hill Va.

my great uncle was born in 1847 from alleghney county pa went into army in 1864 was wonded at battle of wilderson va & died in 1932 he was shot 3inches below the right shoulder went to hospital in frederickburg va when he died the bullet ws still in his shoulder

He enlisted at the beginning of the war. The 61st PA was a three year volinteer regiment; he was discharged with the members of the regiment that did not choose to re-enlist at the end of the three years. This is my great-great grandfather and I am in possesion of his discharge paper. Any information about him would greatly be appreciated.

The actual name of my husband's 2nd great-grandfather was John Henry Buente. He was killed on July 1, 1862 at Malvern Hill.
