Volney M LeValley - Private
|
Volney was my great grand uncle. His brother Henry was my great grandfather and a member of the 7th Pennsylvania Cavlery company L.
After his enlistment expired he reenlisted and became part of the 190th P.V.I. He was taken P.O.W. at the Battle of Weldon Railroad in August 1864 and was in Belle Island and Salisbery(sp?) N.C. P.O.W.camp.
He survived the war and returned to Covington PA. where he died at a ripe old age. He is buried in the Grey Cemetery in Covington and has a G.A.R. medallion on his grave site. His brother Henry is buried in the same cemetery.
