Here is where Belford's record conflicts with official documents. Belford is listed as being mustered out with his regiment on Sept 8, 1864 in official sources, however in his 1884 record, it states that he served until the end of the war. There are no records of another Belford Simpkins in any other regiment during the war. If you have information that explains this inconsistency, please email me.

Cedar Creek Va. Oct 19, 1864.
Storming of Petersburg Va. April 2-3, 1865.
Saylers Creek Va. April 6, 1865.
Appomattox Va. April 9, 1865.
