Robert E. Johnston - Asst Surgeon |
|
Robert was captured at Limestone, Tennessee in September of 1863 and was taken to Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia.
Robert's last name was misspelled in records of his military service. The 't' was left out of Johnston and consequently he is cited incorrectly as Robert Johnson in the records. When Robert passed on in 1904, his widow had some difficulty due to this error when applying for his pension, having to go to some length to prove her relation to Robert.
