81st ovi, battle of shiloh, shermans march to the sea, told relatives he had many close calls, piled up sticks to sleep on while in georgia to try to keep the snakes from crawling on them, sometimes they had to eat the corn that was meant for the horses,family told me he didnt talk to often about it.
