John J. Schmidt age 21 years - Enlisted in Company C 14th NY Infantry of the Civil War July 8, 1862 at Utica, New York. Mustered in as a private same date to serve 3 years. Transferred June 24, 1863 to Co. F 44th infantry. Also born as John F. Sohmidt. Discharged July 15, 1863. Fought July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, Little Round Top facing Devil's Run.

Private, Hiram Rosenbarker was my Great grandfather. He enlisted with the NY 14 Reg. in Potsdam, NY, NY State Volunteers on July 29, 1861. Listed as absent September 14-26,1861. Found present and sick at Perryville, Md. Military Hospital. He was injured (spinal/hip injuries) in the Battle of Gaines Mill,June 27, 1862. Treated for Rheumatic illness Co.D,14th Infantry August 18 - December 28, 1962. Transferred to Co.D, 1st Battalion, 14h US Infantry on April 30, 1862. Discharged at Fort Monroe, VA December 24, 1862 Co.B,193 NY State Volunteer Infantry and D14, US Infantry (Capt. H. W. Keyes Company) by E. McClellen, Asst. Surgeon, US Army. Reenlisted Co. B, 193 Reg. NY State Volunteers February 16 1865 - January 18, 1866. Discharged at Harper's Ferry, VA/Albany NY Jan.18, 1866. I have his medical records and pension papers. Where do I find the Reg. history and the battles he fought in or any photographs of his Reg./Company or him.

Maternal Great-great Grandfather.
Born Vahl-Ebersing, Lorraine, France in 1841.
Enlisted May 1861 in Lowville, NY for two years.
With regiment at Hanover Court House, Beaver Dam Creek, Gaines' Mill, Malvern Hill, Antietam (held in reserve), Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
Regiment at Centerville, VA during Second Bull Run.
Received gun shot wound to the left thigh at Marye's Heights during Fredericksburg. In Finley General Hospital in Washington D.C. until April 1863. Received $2 per month pension from federal government due to battle wound.
Mustered out with regiment May 24, 1863.
Married November 1864
Died of pneumonia March 1893
