Henry David Churchill enlisted in the 12th Infantry Regular Army, Co., B on December 16, 1861. He was twenty-five years-old and his occupation was a carpenter. Henry was with his regiment at the Siege of Yorktown, Battles of Mechanicsville, Gaines HIll and Malvern Hill. Henry died of Typhoid Fever November 15, 1862 in Patterson Park Hospital, Baltimore Maryland. He is buried in Loudon Park National Cemetery in Maryland.
