41st Missouri Infantry

Theodore Kirn was my great-great grandfather. He emigrated to the United States in July, 1863. He came to the United States from the Grand Duchy of Baden to enlist in the Union Army and become a citizen of the United States. He served for one year in the 41st Missouri Regiment guarding the Union Army supplies in St. Louis. He was stationed at Benton Barracks for the one year he served before being honorably discharged and mustered out in July, 1865.He then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and became a grocer.

I have a civil war poster that lists the union defenders for Company A of the 41st Missouri Vol. infantry. I was wondering if this is the correct location for these men.

Rudolph enlisted in the 41st at the beginning of the war. He was a German immigrant and joined the predominantly German raised 41st Missouri infantry and his unit was involved mainly with guard duty. he was a cousin to my great great great grandfather.

In the early part of the Civil war he raised a company of union soldiers in the township in which he lived (Davies county, Missouri) and enlisted in the union army becoming First Lieutenant of Compny F 43 Missouri Volunteer Infantry, and served with his company until the close of the war and was mustered out at Benton Barracks, Missouri.

John first served in the Gasconade County Battalion Home Guard and then the US Reserve Corp. Infantry.
