26th Iowa Infantry

I have a copy of a Civil War pension for my great grandfather, AK Hollis, but I have found no record that he served. He would have been pretty young. The pension was paid to his wife, Minnine Field Hollis. The number listed is 574.647 dated April 18, 1893. Calforina. 026 Iowa Inf. Thanks

History of Medical Services in Clinton County, Iowa Dr. George F. Wetherell, a native of New York ; educated at Medical Department of the University of New York. He practiced medicine in Mechanicsville, in this State, until 1862, when he was appointed Assistant Surgeon of the Twenty-sixth Iowa Volunteers. Assistant Surgeon Geo. F. Wetherell, commissioned September 3, 1862, mustered out June 6, 1865.

Charles was promoted to 1st corporal and died unexpectedly the next day from disease.

My Great Grandfather, G.W. Hurley mustered into the 26th 4 Oct 1862, served throughout the Vicksburg Campaign, contracted pneumonia, after fall of Vicksburg, sent home Sep 1863, rejoined Invalid Corp Jan 1864, as cook, Recieved Medical Pension after being discharged Apr 1865.
