Adam was buried in the St. Magdalene's Catholic Church Cemetery. This cemetery was originally located in Section 15, Shelby Township, Ripley County, Indiana. In 1941, when the government needed the land for the Jefferson Proving Ground, some of the graves were moved to land adjoining St. Patrick's Cemetery in North Madison, Jefferson County. St Magdalene Church stood where early graves were located. The
Ground was leveled, and a large cross stands in memory of those buried there. St. Magdalene Parish [Est. 1847] - New Marion, Ripley County New Marion, IN
Adams grave was never moved and he is still buried in the Jefferson proving ground.

Emil Meinhart Swartz - Private
My grandfather had always told me that my Great-great Grandfather Emil had served at Chickamauga, but I have seen that this unit only served Garrison or Guard duty around the Potomac region in the last days of the official war... Emil did receive a pension, but I am not certain for what if he only served for six months on Garrison duty...
