Enlisted 11 Aug 1862. Duty at Camp Morton in Indianapolis guarding Confederate prisoners. Then engaged in pursuit of Morgan's raiders through Indiana and Ohio. Engaged in campaigns in area of Knoxville (TN). Fought at Columbia, Franklin, and the Battle of Nashville. Unit was transported to Cincinnati (OH) and Washington DC. Sailed to Wilmington (NC) participating in the march on Goldsboro (NC and was present at the surrender of the Confederate army under Gen. Joseph Johnston to Gen William T. Sherman. Mustered out 02 Jul 1865 at Indianapolis, IN.
