Joseph Ugron - Private   
Ugron's last name was spelled phoentically as 'Eugrawn' in his Civil War records. (He was born 'Hugron' in French Canada, and it was changed to 'Ugron' in Kankakee Co., Illinois.)

Military discharge paper for 'Joseph Eugrawn' were found among the papers of his nephew, Stephen Thomas Ugron upon Stephen's death in 1961. Joseph appears to have lied about his age. He claimed to be 18 in 1865; he was probably 16. The text:

To all whom it may Concern:
Know ye, That Joseph Eugrawn, Private of Captain Charles A. Shroyer, Company A, 156 Regiment of Ills. Infantry volunteers who was enrolled on the 16th day of February one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five to serve one years of during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this twentieth day of September, 1865, at Memphis, Tennessee, by reason of Special Order No 56 from Hd Qrs Dept. - Tenn. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist.)
Said Joseph Eugrawn was born in the State of Canada, is 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, Fair complexion, Blue eyes, Light hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Farmer.
Given at Memphis, Tenn. this Twentieth day of Sept. 1865.
