George Kasper Dittmar - Private
|
George 'Kasper' Dittmar was my great-grandfather's younger brother and enlisted with his older brother, John Dittmar, in February 1865 from Jo Daviess County, IL. He and John served on picket duty in Memphis and along rail lines in Tennessee for the remainder of the war, and were mustered out in September 1865. Kasper returned to Illinois after the war, but after his wife died in 1870 he moved to Iowa and remained there for the rest of his life.
