John Odom Brakebill - 1st Sergeant   
Enlisted September 1, 1861 New Liberty, Illinois. Age 15. Wounded in the face at Shiloh. Reenlisted in January, 1863 and served until the end of the war. Military records show a wound to the face at Battle of Dallas, Georiga and a wound to the leg at the Battle of Atlanta. Pension file note from S.F. Grieve, commander of Company A 'John Brakebill was a brave, honorable, and honest soldier one who never shirked or played off and was ever ready for duty except when wounded or too sick to carry his gun.'

Timothy Gard - Private   
Timothy Gard was born 22 September 1848 in Wabash County, Illinois and was the son of Justus Gard and Anna Oman. He enlisted for service as a Private on 20 February 1864. He enlisted in Company H, 48th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 07 March 1864. He died 12 April 1864 in Scottsboro, Alabama from the measles. The 48th Illinois was located in Scottsboro from around December 1863 thru May 1864. Timothy enlisted in Union army when only fifteen and half years old and had only been in the Union Army a period of less than two months. He was never in a battle engaged by his regiment. TIMOTHY DIED IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY AT THE AGE OF 15 YEARS. Regimental losses for the entire 48th Infantry during service: Killed and mortally wounded- 10 Officers and 113 Enlisted men/ By disease- 6 Officers and 251 Enlisted men.

Elijah contracted measles at Camp Butler, Il in 1861. His record from the National Archives states was afflicted with 'yellow Jaunders' 25 Sept 1864 at Scottsboro, AL. He was paid a pension
of $30, and he was described as an invalid, blind in his left eye. His widow Pency recieved $40 pension until her death in
1929.
