Aaron Shaw can be found later in 5th & 8th Del Inf Reg as 2LT & 1LT and was the brother-in-law to CPT Robert Holt.

In the History of the First Regiment Delaware Volunteers by author William P. Seville, Second Lieutenant R. J. Holt's name appears on page 15 as a member of Company 'C' along with Company Commander, Captain Joseph M. Barr and William Seville was the Regiment Adjutant.

Enlisted September 21, 1861 Wilmington, Delaware; garrison duty Fort Monroe; wounded September 17, 1862 Antietam; hospital guard Tilton Military Hospital; discharged September 21, 1864; died March 30, 1889 Soldier's Home Hampton, Virginia.

Enlisted as a private and discharged as a sergeant. Was a farmer from Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Served all three years in the 1st Delaware Infantry.

Killed by sharpshooter at Petersburg, June 20, 1864.

Enlisted as a private in company K. Slightly wounded in the right thigh at Antietam. Returned to service, promoted to corporal. Reenlisted into the 1st De. Veteran Volunteer Corp. and was wounded in the left arm in the Battle of the Wilderness. Returned to service, promoted to sergeant and served in the regimental color guard. Jonathon was from a farming family and lived near Hazlettville, Delaware. He entered the service with his brother Thomas. Their names have been spelled Bedwell and Bettle in various records. They are listed on the Delaware monument in Gettysburg. Relationship to me: uncle (gg grandmothers brother)
