George Brown - Private
George also served in Co. C in the 10th Connecticut Infantry. His real name was James Gray but changed it to George Brown. He filed for a government pension on January 3, 1891 due to a disability claimed during his service in the Civil War. In his pension record he states he was born in Canada. However, other records have been found that report he was born in England, maybe Scotland. Family history handed down is that he was running away 'from something' and fled to Canada. After an exhaustive search for his final resting place, I discovered that he is buried in Hartford, CT. Date of death: October 7, 1896, age 80.

I am looking for a picture of him and hope to correspond with anyone who thinks they might be related to him.
