Calvin Lee Parker - Corporal
My great-great-grandfather. Wounded at Williamsburg and 2nd Manassas, Wounded again and captured during Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg. Was hit in lower left leg and probably laid on the battlefield for a day or two before being picked up. Union surgeon removed his leg below the knee. He was attempting to save the company's colors and made three attempts to retrieve it, being hit on the third attempt. He was given a promotion to Sgt. Major for his bravery, but was not able to fight again. He was sent to several Union hospitals and prisons before finally being sent home.
