James Wilson McGown - Private
|
James was born 3 April 1836 in Tennessee. On the 1860 census he is 22 years old living in Hillsboro, Hill County Texas. He enlists in Co K 12th Texas Infantry [ Young's ] . The Post Office is at Greenwares Mill. He served honorably until the end of the war. He died in Whitney, Hill Co. Texas on 22 June 1917. I have not been able to locate his archival records. His wife Emma Davis Gathings filed for a CSA pension 15 Aug. 1930, and it was granted. The data I have on James is from those files. James was considerably older than Emma, he, being born in 1836 and she in 1861.
