George Washington Moore
- Private
George was born 4 July 1845 in Madison Co. Alabama and at an early age moved with his family to Jacks Co. Texas. I was unable to find his Archival records but did find his relatives in the 6th Regiment. His wife Elizabeth Taylor filed for pension from Jack's county 20 Aug 1912 which along with his Regimental History forms this data. The Regiment when formed was 6th Regiment Texas Cavalry [Wharton's] which became B. Warren Stone's 2nd Regiment [Dismounted Cavalry - Partisan Rangers] At some point it was know as [Grill Miller's] dismounted Cavalry.
George was 14 when the invasion began and enlisted late in the conflict in Feb 1864 at age 17. He served as a courier for Col. Chisum. His wife and witnesses stated on her pension application he served until the surrender. He died 13 Sept 1906 and is buried beside his wife in Cottonwood Cem. Bryson, Jacks Co. Texas. We are related by a distant marriage.

Company K
William H. Cozart
Rank Unknown
William H. Cozart's middle name is probably Henderson, named for his relative Henderson Cozart, who gave his life at the infamous Goliad Massacre in 1836 and who is considered a 'Texas Hero.' Several Cozart (aka Cozort) relatives migrated to Texas after the Texians won their war of independence from Mexico. William H. enlisted from Leon Co., TX. He may also have been in the 3rd (Gould's) TX Cavalry unit, as well as the 6th (Gould's) Cavalry. William H. is also undoubtedly related to Thornton E. Cozart, who served in the 15th TX Cav and died in a Tyler (TX) hospital. There is documentation of two letters Thornton wrote to his pregnant (twins) wife,Mary Ann Bowen Cozart, asking her to come and see him at the hospital and take him home. She made the rough trip on horseback from their rural Texas home but arrived too late -- Thornton had died in the hospital. She made the return trip, but she, too, died while giving birth to the twins; the twins died, also. Documentation of this incident can be found by using a good search engine and typing Thornton Cozart. William's surname is also spelled Cozort in some records.
