Frederick Wolfean was of German ancestry. He was born in Hannover in 1834. He came to Galveston Texas in 1854. Little is known about their activities. Frederick was a ship captain. He married Mary Walsh (or Welch) and fathered a daughter named Eliza in 1867. Wolfean enlisted in Cook's Company, 1st Texas Heavy Artillery in 1861. He would transfer to the Navy in 1863. He would serve on the 'FLASH' the 'A.C. SHELTON' and the 'STINGRAY'. Wolfean divorced his first wife and would marry Anna Maria Smith Stines in 1870. They would have a son named Frederick William Wolfean in 1873. They remained in Galveston until 1878 when they moved to Chambers County. Anna and Fred divorced in 1890. 'The Captain' as he was known, married Mary C. Ritchie Chapman in 1890. He fathered five more children by his third wife. Wolfean applied for a pension in 1898. The Wolfeans lived on 28th & Strand in Galveston until Fred died in 1905. He's buried in Lakeview Cemetery in the Confederate veterans section.

Wesley was born in Buncombe Co. NC 19 Mar 1813. He served in the Florida Indian wars and was 42 years old when he enlisted in the fight against the invaders. Enlisted and mustered at Galveston, Texas on 13 Sept 1861. It was then know as 3rd Texas Heavy Artillery [Cook's] with 3 companies. It increased to 6 companies by 1862 and to Regiment size 28 June 1865. They were assigned to protect the coastal region around Galveston. Wesley served in Companies commanded by Captain's Samuel Boyer Davis, Charles M Mason & [no first name] Capt. Camron. The Regiment surrendered 2 June 1865. Wesley in the Father in Law of my 4th cousin 4 x removed on my mothers line.

James was born 17 Dec 1838 in Panola Miss. and died 30 Jan 1925 in Lockhart, Caldwell Co. Texas. He applied for and received a CSA pension. When he died his 2nd wife petitioned for and also received a pension. He enlisted 11 June 1862 at Galveston, Texas in Co H. 1st Regt. Heavy Artillery. He served his entire tour of duty in the Galveston area. He has 11 cards in his archival file. Entry for 5 Sept 1864 notes that he is on furlough to Caldwell Co. Tx. He is buried alongside his wife at Lockheart Municipal Burial Park, Caldwell Co. Texas. He was the father-in-law of my 5th cousin 3 x removed.

My great grandfather, George White was born September 1835 in Panola County, Mississippi. His family moved to Gonzales, Texas in May 1853. He enlisted April 3, 1862. Served under Maj. Gen. John B. Magruder with Lt. Richard [Dick] W. Dowling at Sabine Pass and Galveston. After the war he resided in Beaumont, Texas. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on May 14, 1913 and died August 7, 1913. He is buried in the Texas State Cemetery, Confederate Field, Section 1 (F) Row:G Number:25.
