John's mother, Sarah Cox, was sister to my maternal g,g,g,grandfather, John Cox Jr. He was also the paternal g,g,grandfather of my daughter-in-law, Sharon Cox Land.

Jones 16th Ga.Battalion on June 20,1863. He is listed as a 1st Sgt.

According to Family lore The home guard attempted to hang John and a 'brother cut him down '
