Churchill (or Churchwell) G. Andrews, b. 9 March 1829, was the eldest brother of my g-grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Andrews) Taylor. According to Company Muster Roll dated May 7, 1864, for 18th (Newsom's) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, he enlisted 1 Apr. 186_, in Lexington, in for the duration of the War.

Edmund Martin Newsom - Sergeant Major |
Edmund in 1860 was 17 years old was living in District 2. Enon College, Sumner Co. Tenn. He enlisted 11 May 1864 at Tupelo, Mississippi by Capt. Bell. The 18th was assigned to T.H. Bell's Brigade in the Dept of Alabama, Mississippi and East Louisiana. Major Battles were Brice's Crossroads, aka Tishomingo and Gun Town. Battle of Harrisburg aka Tupelo. The Regiment saw further action in Middle Tenn. It was consolidated in March of 1865 and surrendered soon thereafter. Paroled at Jackson, Tenn. He died 5 Sept 1916 in Trousdale, Tenn. Buried in Cedar Grove Cem. Lebanon, Wilson County Co. Tenn. He was the husband of my 3rd cousin, 4 x removed. His wife filed and received a pension # 6534.
