183rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry
Organized at Philadelphia December 24, 1863, to March 8, 1864. Ordered to join Army of the Potomac on the Rapidan, Va., and attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, to March, 1865. 4th Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, to July, 1865.

Regiment lost during service 4 Officers and 92 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 89 Enlisted men by disease. Total 187.

William James Jones - Private   
William James Jones born Sept 1st, 1843 in Portsmouth Virginia (Son of Harvey and Mary Elizabeth Jones and grandson of Silas and Mary) Joined the confederacy in April 1861, Fought and injured in Picketts Charge in Gettysburg on July 4th, 1863. Transported to hospital in Richmond Va. Returned to active duty in August and then captured in Oct 1863 at Clark's Mountain, Va, Held at Capitol Prison in DC until Dec 18th, 1863 when he was released. Went to Philadelphia and joined the Union on Jan 19th, 1864. Discharged from the Union in September 1865 in Philadelphia.
