Jacob Martin Breech was born September 12, 1929 in Columbia County. He married Rebecca Leiby (daughter of George and Hannah Wittner Leiby)in Columbia County. They had the following children: 1. Amanda (see Find a Grave, burial location unknown), 9. Anna S. Breech Smith (Charles) born May 7, 1862 and died September 12, 1927 at 336 Kiefer Street in Hazleton, PA, 10. Elisabeth (wife of Franklin Gearhart 1866-1914) born December 26, 1864 and died October, 1916 (no information).
Jacob Breech was mustered into the Union Army on March 13, 1865 in Pottsville, PA. He was admitted to Post Hospital Camp Cadwalader, PA on March 31, 1865 for treatment of opthalmia and died April 12, 1865 (last day of the Civil War), of Cerebral Spinal Menengitis.
Jacob Martin Breech was my maternal great, great- grandfather.

Agnes, Alfred and Amanda Breech were all found on the 1870 US Census in the Soldiers Orphan School. Their Father died prior to that, but their mother was alive until 1887. I'm not sure why they were here, unless she was not in good health and not able to take care of them.
