Company G
Jonathan C. Heck - General
Jonathan was the older brother to Jared. He served alongside jared and another brother Levi at Gettysburg. They fought side by side, and Jonathan was the only one to not get wounded on the 1st of July. He was with the Regiment on the third of July when they helped to repulse the Pickett/Pettigrew-Trimble Charge. It is amazing to know that he witnessed and survived the most deadly of battles in our Nation''s history. After the war, he struggled with Malarial Poisoning, and this crippled his ability to make a living, and when he died in 1901, he was very poor.

Levi S. Heck - Private
Levi was the youngest of the 3 brothers that served with the 151st. He too was wounded, but he did not get wounded until the last stand defense of Seminary Ridge just prior to the Regiment''s and the 1st Corp retreat through town. He was shot through the left shoulder, but was lucky that the bullet did not hit any bone and passed through. He too was at the Seminary Hospital, but did not find out about his brother Jared until the both were in Harrisburg to muster out on July 27th, 1863. Levi later outlived his 2 other brothers, and passed away in 1927 of extreme old age, and general debility.

Jacob B. Klahr - Private
He was severely wounded in the right hand during the Battle of Gettysburg on the first day's fighting, July 1st, 1863. Whether this happened at McPherson's Ridge(probably), or during the 2nd stand at the Lutheren Seminary, I do not know. I've applied for the Pension Application File in 4/14 and hope I can add new info. from it. He was around 33 yrs. at the time of the battle, and died on Jan. 4, 1873.

William S. Strause - Private
This was my GGGF, who was wounded on 1 July at Gettysburg(in chest and arm). According to the pension papers, an examining doctor noted years later that 'he was wounded in the act of firing his musket- with the ball passing through his left breast and and left arm. Lucky shot... He served with several cousins and two brothers- Emmanual S. Strause (discharged due to illness prior to battle, and Joel S. Strause. Joel- according to family history- hid his wounded brother during the retreat under some brush and leaves. Later, William Strause was recovered. Joel may have been captured and then paroled during the battle. A cousin- William T. Strause was also wounded and later died on 1 Aug. He is buried under a gravestone in the National Cemetary that identifies him as William S. Strause.
