Private Isaac Reed was wounded at the battle of Laurel Hill, Spotsylvania Courthouse, May 10, 1864. He was taken to the Wilderness hospital where he died.

Lost an arm in battle. Died in Libby Prison (Richmond, VA) as a result of wounds sustained at Battle of Cold Harbor.
Burried at Arlington National Cemetery Section 13, lot 7445.

Nicholas was my Great Grandfather. He enlisted in Company F, 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment on September 8, 1862. He was mustered out June 12,1865 at Hart''s Island, NY Harbor, NY. His Unit fought at Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad and Hatcher''s Run. Nicholas was never physically wounded but suffered nightmares the rest of his life. He is buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. His headstone reads ''Nicholas Vanhorn, Co. F, 143rd Pa. Inf., a G.A.R marker has been placed at his grave.

Surname spelled 'Baringer' in some records.

I have the wording of his Discharge, though the document is now missing. I will provide the information at a later date. I am his great grandson and am searching for specifics of where the 143rd was at various battles he was involved in.

Promoted to Corporal July 1st, 1863.
Promoted to Sergeant January 1st, 1865.
Mustered out with company June 12th, 1865.
Fought in all major engagements.
Died January 15th., 1907. Buried in Nicholson, PA.
