Nicholas Vanhorn (Van Horn) - Private   
Nicholas was my Great Grandfather. He enlisted in Company F, 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment on September 8, 1862. He was mustered out June 12,1865 at Hart''s Island, NY Harbor, NY. His Unit fought at Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad and Hatcher''s Run. Nicholas was never physically wounded but suffered nightmares the rest of his life. He is buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. His headstone reads ''Nicholas Vanhorn, Co. F, 143rd Pa. Inf., a G.A.R marker has been placed at his grave.
