2nd cousin of mine. Enlisted 22 Aug 1861. Wounded and captured at Spotsylvania, VA, May 1864. Held prisoner for 106 days.

Served with this regiment which was one of two primarily recruited in Schuylkill County (the other being the 48th). Served entire three year term. Was slightly wounded at the Wilderness.

Christian Christoph Seibert - Private   
He was born in Germany and came to America in 1844. He enlisted in the war Septembert 23, 1861. After the battles of Spottsylvania and Antietam he was sent to the U.S. General Hospital at Washington D.C. and was then transferred to the 44th, 2nd Battalion, Invalid Veteran Reserve Corps on the 29th Oct. 1863.

William was a First Defender, he was KIA at Salem Church May 3 1863, while making the advance toward the church. His body was left on the field.
