Julius Eduard Daniel Kelber, known as Eduard, was born 23 Apr 1828 Riedbach Württemberg, son of Rev. Johann Immanuel Gottlieb Kelber and Christiane Katharina Hoffmann. Married Christiane Friedericke Ziegler Jul 26 1855 at Lorch Württemberg.
He served in the Civil War, Union Army from 1861 to 1865. He enlisted as a Private on 23 April 1861 and mustered out 8 Aug 1861, during which time he would have been part of the force occupying Martinsburg WV. Union soldiers under General Robert Patterson occupied Martinsburg on July 3- July 17. Edouard later in the war was captured at Reams Station and was imprisoned at Salisbury NC, from which he escaped. After the war, he settled in Bridgewater PA. In the 1868, Friedericke joined him there He died Sep 19, 1892 in Rochester PA and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, also known as Freedom Cemetery.
Edouard Kelber served in several units representing 4 states. In the records of the 15th PA, he is variously recorded also as Julius E Keller and Tobias Kelber.
