William 'Billy' was my great-great grandfather. He was born in Licking Co., Ohio on the 24th of October, 1831. His obituary:
Newcomerstown, OH, 8 January, 1916:
“William Taylor Passes Away...Mr. William Taylor, aged 83 years, a former resident of Marietta died on Saturday at his home in Newcomerstown. The remains were brought to Elba, Monday morning. Mr. Taylor had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company having worked on the Marietta division for about 35 years, until he was retired on a pension a few years ago. The deceased was one of the trusted men of the late General A.J. Warner and was counted as one of his best friends. He was employed in the Marietta yards of the railroad company for many years and his last work in this city was a flag man at the Front Street crossing. He was a veteran of the Civil war having been a member of the 92nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company H, and saw service in many engagements.”
