Company F
Sebastian Glamser
- Private
Sebastian Glamser is my great-grandfather. I have recently been doing research on his unit trying to learn more of their activities and to gain a better understanding of what he and his fellow commrades had to contend with. He was taken prisoner on 22 July 1864 outside of Atlanta and was sent to Andersonville, arriving approx. 24 July 1864. From there, he was transferred to Macon on his way to Millen (Camp Lawton). He was then sent from there to Florence SC and then on up to Libby Prison in Richmond, where he was finally exchanged back to the Union Army. He eventually was discharged in early April 1865 and made his way back to his home in Little Sandusky OH, where he lived for several years, regaining his health somewhat before heading west after being married. He and his wife eventually had 10 children, their 7th was my grandmother, Barbara Glamser Wolfe. Sebastian died 2 January 1911 in Shelbina MO where he is buried with his wife and several children in the 100F Cemetery, in view of his farm.
