James was a Teamster, he mustered out in St Louis 1864, I would like a photo f the company he was in he was also in company G & D,

Sidney Clifton was born 1824 in Tennessee. Son of Thomas Nathan Clifton (DAR burial marker 'A Soldier of the Revolutionary War') and Elizabeth Davis. Sidney Clifton served in the Webster County Regiment Home Guard Infantry in Springfield Missouri during the months of July/August 1861 (along with his older brothers Alison 43, Madison Monroe 40, and Alfred 38) where he joined the 24th Missouri Infantry. Mortally wounded October 1862 at the Battle of Corinth, he died at Union City, TN, December 27, 1862. Sidney left behind a wife, five sons and two daughters.

He was a member of Co. F 22nd Mo Vol's which was reassigned as Co. E 24th Reg't Mo. Infantry.

James' widow applied for a pension stating her husband was a member of the 24th Missouri.

Company E 24th Missouri Infantry was attached to the 10th Reg't Mo. Inf but still maintained it's identity as a company of the 24th Missouri. The 10th Missouri Infantry was made of many residents of Illinois.

Would appreciate any information as to historical materials regarding the unit/company, to include rosters.

Great-Great Grandfather. Moses Knight suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was honorably discharged at the close of the Civil War. On 4 Mar 1866, Moses married Octavia Jane Tyree and to this union 10 children were born. Octavia died on 5 Jan 1902 in Russ, Laclede Co., MO. Moses then married Emma Sylvia Shonkwiller on 4 Aug 1909 and to this union 5 children were born. Emma died in Laclede County, MO in 1961. Moses was 76 when his youngest child of the 2 marriages was born. Pearl Elizabeth Knight Chastain was my great grandmother, she passed away on 19 Oct. 2002, the last of her siblings.

Moses Knight was one of the oldest and best known residents in Laclede County at the time of his death in 1931.

Also served in Company G 21st Missouri Infantry.

The 24th Missouri Infantry saw service in Louisiana, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee. This particular regiment failed to get into the Battle of Wilson's Creek because they had not yet received their equipment.

Francis Standley was my great grandfather, My paternal grandmother''s father. Francis was discharged at St Louis, Mo on the twenty eighth of Nov., 1864. He was wounded at Pea Ridge, AR and left with a withered arm. Elizabeth was his wife.

Tavern at Battle of Pea Ridge on March 7, 1862. His brother was with him and was wounded also.

Wounded in fighting at the Elk Horn Tavern at the Battle of Pea Ridge, March 7, 1862. His brother was with him and was killed. After being shot in the back, he lay still, when Rebels came through and kicked him, leaving him for dead. Later a herd of pigs came through and he crawled out with them. He was then helped to the Elk Horn Tavern for medical care. While in the Tavern he continued to try to get to his gun in case the Rebels came in. He was later tranferred to a Springfield, MO hospital for care.
