Alfred Henry Powell
Alfred Henry Powell - Chaplain |
|
Have been tracking Alfred Henry Powell because he is the brother of my G-G-Grandfather. He is listed in the 1870 Federal Census as Alfred H. Powell living in Concord, Clinton County, Missouri, and his occupation at the time was 'Preacher'. He enlisted in the Union forces and became a Chaplain. An article from an unknown newspaper in California stated he was at the Battle of Wilson's Creek, opposite his brother William Asbury Powell, who fought for the Confederacy and was at the same Battle. Believe Alfred is the same Alfred H. Powell who served as a chaplain in F and S Companies of the 24th Missouri Infantry.
