Joseph William Vinyard - Private
|
Although there are three places of death listed for Joseph: James Plantation, Perkins Plantation and Young's Point…all in Louisiana, all are in close proximity to each other. After reading the military reports, I believe that Joseph W. Vinyard most likely died of dysentery at a field hospital at James Plantation on May 15th, 1863. Some soldier's graves were moved to the National Cemeteries in Louisiana and Mississippi but I have never been able to find one for Joseph W. Vinyard. He was probably buried in an unmarked grave in Louisiana.
Joseph W. Vinyard was born in Greene Co., IL about 1830, son of William and Nancy Quigley Vinyard. He married Amanda Emiline Wood in 1850, 3 known children.
