My 3rd great grandfather James A. Mitchell enlisted on July 20, 1862 in Vanburen, Ark. He was captured at the battle of Pleasant Hill on April 9, 1864 and was sent to prison (haven't found where yet). On June 23, 1865 he signed an Oath of Allegiance in St. Louis, MO.
