John was born 24 JAN 1825 in Sevier County TN, was married 3 SEP 1846 to Susan Catherine Shelton in Talladega AL, died 31 OCT 1914 in Laclede County MO, and is buried at McBride Cemetary near Competition, MO. He served from 29 DEC 1861 to 24 JAN 1865 in the Missouri State Militia.

I have been researching our family tree and I am trying to find information for John's father: James M. Lindsay .

Pvt Elisha C. Hopkins, a Union soldier in the Civil War, Company F, 8th Regiment Calvary Missouri State Militia. He served under Captain Foster. He enlisted 15 March 1882 at Warsaw, MO. He was mustered in 1 April 1882, Warsaw, MO and mustered out 31 March 1865.

He married Elizabeth (Mathis) Tull, a widow, on 22 Oct 1874 in Harrison Co., MO. In Census dated 3 June 1880: Elisha, farmer, age 47, born in Ohio, father born in Ohio, mother born in Vermont; wife Elizabeth, age 46; Sarah A. Tull, age 14, daughter at home; Katy Tull, age 10, daughter at school; Rubin Tull, age 8.

He is believed to be buried in Harrison Co., MO, date of death is after 3 June 1880 and before 1 Jan 1910.

Jacob Cossairt - Captain
Jacob enlisted in Company I, 8th Regiment Cavalry, Missouri state Volunteers(State Militia) on 31 March 1862 in Linn Creek, MO and was mustered into service on 24 April 1862 at Linn Creek as 1st Sergeant, promoted to Captain. He was discharged from service on 17 July 1865 at Benton Barracks, MO as a Captain. He was 6'5' tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair. He and John W. Quigg recruited the 8th and fought at Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, & Osage. He was born on 3 January 1834 in Darke, Ohio, died 13 April 1896 in Stoddard County MO s/o Francis & Mary Jane (Phillips) Cossairt, h/o Hettie Alice Cossairt.
