Born 1838 in Cecil County, MD, Joseph C. Yeamans enlisted in the 5th MD Infantry as a Corporal on Oct 9, 1861. He was taken prisoner & died in an unknown Confederate prison camp on Jan. 15, 1865. Joseph was a distant 2nd cousin. His brother, George W. Yeamans also served, in Co. A, 8th MD Infantry.
