C, 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery on Oct. 20, 1862. Later served in Co. C, 7th Louisiana Cavalry. Survived war, received Louisiana Confederate pension.

school teacher, at "Liberty Creek School")). Albert Self and his wife Sidney Bryan Self bought the Reuben and Harriet Price Gill Plantation, Homestead on Liberty Creek, which is located inside the Artillery Range, U.S. Army Base. The Self Cemetery #15, is named after these line of Self's.

James Simonton Brice - Private |
James Simonton Brice was born Sept. 16, 1824 in Fairfield County, South Carolina, the son of Robert & Margaret Brice. In 1857, James Simonton Brice married Elizabeth Strong Moffatt in Troy, Obion Co., Tennessee. They moved to New Orleans, Louisiana; where they had seven children Robert Edgar, James Moffatt, Walter, Mary Louisa, Martha Lee, William Bonar and Charles Strong Brice.
James enlisted as a Private in Co. H, 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery and was captured May 4, 1865 at Catonsville, Mississippi & held prisoner at Merdian, Mississippi until released May 14, 1865.
James Simonton Brice died June 20, 1877 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas.
