Mustered Out Company I, 6th Cavalry Regiment Kentucky on 6 Sept 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. Son of Freeman and Rachel Coyle Garner. Married Emma Elizabeth Watson. Born 16 Jul 1846 in Kentucky and died 24 Nov 1926 in Grays Harbor County, Washington. Mr Garner was a Grand Army veteran, having served three years and two months in the Union army during the Civil War.

James Rountree was born 12 Sept 1843 in Edmonson County Ky near Mammoth Cave, son of Thomas Rountree & Elizabeth Blair. James enlisted in Co.I, 6th KY Calvary on 19 Dec 1862 at Munfordsville, KY. Transferred to Co.I, 27th KY Infantry on 12 Feb 1863 while they were stationed in Mumfordsville near his home. 1st Division, 23rd Army Corps, to October, 1863. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, 23rd Army Corps, to November, 1863. 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, Cavalry Corps, Dept. of Ohio, to April, 1864. 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, 23rd Army Corps, to June, 1864. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 23rd Army Corps, to December, 1864. 2nd Division, District of Kentucky and Dept. of Kentucky, to March, 1865.

Participated in Knoxville & East Tennessee campaigns of 1863 and servied in Northern Georgia & Alabama in 1864 as part of the army of Ohio. Joined with General Sherman's Army in the March to Atlanta in May 1864. Mustered out March 29, 1865.

James Rountree died on 2 May 1923 in Edmonson County, KY. He was the brother of my 3rd great grandfather Pleasant Rountree.

Benjamin Hardin Whitehouse

Ben Hardin Whitehouse rode with Captain Ellis Harper's Partisan Raiders after the war. He was a yankee soldier in the 6th Ky Cav Co 'K'. He was discharged from that unit came home to Boyle County Kentucky and in an argument over his wife with a man named Pipes who had fought with Morgan, he killed Pipes. Governor Bramlett issued an indictment for his arrestand it is said he packed up his new wife Cornelia Minor and what the could carry on horseback and ended up in Richland in late 1865. Harper and his men were not quite finished fighting yet and for some reason he joined in and became one of Harper's Boys and changed his name by dropping the Whitehouse name.
