Came back from the War and died only 5 months later from typhoid at age 30. His brother, Amos James Rallya, fought in the 38th Iowa Infantry and died from disease in October, 1863 in Louisiana. Was married to Elizabeth (Sheetz) Rallya, who died in March, 1864, age 20, 7 months before Ellis enlisted. He left one son, Edward F. Rallya born Feb. 1864 in Winneshiek County, Iowa.
