- Quarter Master
He was from Rockville, IN. At age 19 August 9th 1862 told his family he was joining the cause and set out to walk to Clinton, Indiana. From Clinton he took the train to Terre Haute, Indiana. William enlisted at Terre Haute on August 11, 1862. He earned the rank of Corporal January 1, 1864. He then earned the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant March 1, 1865. He was discharged June 17th 1865. I have his enlistment, promotion papers to Quartermaster Sergeant, and his discharge papers. I do have some information on what battles and locations he fought in.
