I entered John''s name as it was spelled on his marker in the
cemetary where he is buried. The cemetary name is Buchanan
Cemetary, it is in Ripley County, Indiana. No dates on stone.
I am sure he is related as most of the other Buchanan''s in the
cemetary are in some way.

Thanks,
Sharon

Enlisted twice in the Civil War: 14th Indiana Infantry Company G, signed up June 7, 1861 in Indianapolis, then 37th Regimental Infantry Company C; mustered in October 28, 1861 as a corporal; served with James S. Ewan, a first sergeant; discharged January 3, 1864 with disability. He deserted after the first enlistment on July 5, 1861. Must have had good excuse because he was allowed to re-enlist.
