Elhanan Fitzgerald served from 8-9-1962, is listed as deserted 12-3-1862, when his brother James who enlisted 8-13-1862 was injured 12-29-1862, and later died. Most likely Elhanan took him home to Fairbury and never returned.

He left a widow and a young son (age 3).

His discaharge papers have the 'reason for discahrge - death'

I have copies of his discaharge papers, pay vouchers and his widow's pension papers.
