My 2nd great grandfather Francis S Soden served in the Illinois 119th Volunteer Infantry Company C. He enlisted at age 16 in Aug 1861 and served until June 1865. He received wounds that hospitalized him for three months then was returned to duty. He participated in 10 engagements.

Hiram born 27 May 1838 in Brown County Ill, the son of Orris Martin Henry and Eliza Emrick Henry m 1859 to Sarah Putman He died 13 Dec, 1906 and is buried in the Cooperstown Cemetary in Brown County Ill.
Hiram joined 25th of July 1862 in Cooperstown at age 23 and mustered in at Quincy Ill. 7 Oct 1862. He was promoted Captain and mustered out in 1965

Christopher Wilson died January 1863 of disease at Benton Barracks, Missouri, after serving at Jackson, Tennessee. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. He was born in Ohio in 1822, married Margaret (Peggy) Darby in Marion County, Indiana, December 22, 1849. They had two children: Matilda, born in Illinois October 12, 1850, and Nathan Perry Jed, born in LaGrange, Illinois, September 1, 1857. I am a descendant of Nathan and his wife, Amelia Jane Long Wilson, whose daughter was my mother, Lilly Wilson Dalton.
