| Conrad  Hester- Private | |
Conrad Hester immigrated from Hesse-Kassel in Germany to Montville Connecticut (outside of New London) in the early 1860s and within a short while he volunteered with the 26th Connecticut.  He was honorably discharged.  Later, he became a mercenary with the 10th New Jersey Infantry Regiment until the end of the war.  With the 10th NJ he fought in a series of battles in Virgina including the Wilderness and ending at Appomatox Courthouse.  He passed away in 1898.
