Their were [2] 17th Ark Infantry Regiments. Lemoyne's & Griffin's George served with Lemoyne's. under several Brigade commander's including Cock's Co F and Co K Hawthorns. He enlisted 21 July 1862 at Briggsville, Yell Co. Ark. and was elected Captain. He was severely wounded 7 Dec 1862 at he battle of Prairie Grove and was discharged as disabled. At that time it seems he was in 2nd Brigade commanded by Brig. Gen Fagan, Price's Division District of Arkansas. This units formation and several consolidations makes it difficult to follow its organizational structure.
