- Private

There is only one W. G. Johnson who served in a company recruited in Johnson County. This man, Pvt. William G. Johnson, enlisted in Co. C, 4th Arkansas Cavalry (aka Carroll's/Gordon's 1st Arkansas Cavalry), at Dardanelle, Arkansas, on February 20, 1863, for three years or the war. He was reported present for duty on all muster rolls through February 29, 1864. There are no later muster rolls, and no record of what happened to him for the rest of the war.

Earlier, he had served in the Johnson County Militia. He appears on a payroll of Co. G, 10th Regiment Arkansas Militia, as a company musician, reported as present during the regiment's annual muster for inspection and drill held during the period February 27 to March 19, 1862, at Clarksville, Arkansas.
