Jesse G. Sanderson - Private
According to the Alabama Civil War Widows Pension records for Judith L. Sanderson, Jesse G. Sanderson served in Company A of the 16th Regiment. He died (not killed) on April 13, 1863. Her pension was approved by the state board of examiners and she recived it for several years but no pension records after 1900. They were from Allsboro (sometimes Alsboro) and she was a Corsbie before her marriage to Jesse. I obtained these records from Wallace State Genealogy Department and they are also in the Alabama Historical Archives. Where Jesse died and where he is buried remains a mystery to me. Any information on Company A or Jesse G. Sanderson would be appreciated.

The 1870 census has him as Bugg B.F. d.o.b for all 6 family member have the correct first name and d.o.b. but have Bugg as last name. Then in 1880 the name changes back to Briggs. David Efford Bentley - Lieutenant
David Bentley was a lieutenant of Company I, was transferred and appointed to the command of Company G by the colonel commanding. The men after twelve or eighteen months, got to respecting their new officer, for he was an excellent man of the finest business capacity and a high-toned gentleman, but he never relished his position. At the battle of Murfreesboro he was an invalid, and unable to walk, but after it commenced he mounted the horse of a friend, rode to the front and took command of his company; in one hour he was brought back to the hospital mortally wounded. I have his confederate cap passed down through the family.. I had it looked at and our guess is that when He was transferred from company I to company G he was given a field promotion to the rank of captain because of the design of his cap. It was a captains cap with 3 copper bands on the top completing the design showing the rank of captain. His complete uniform was stored underneath the home of his family but over the years the only thing salvageable were the cap and his belt and buckle.
